Silky Terriers originated in Australia and lay claim to being the only Australian toy dog. There are several theories about how the breed came to be. Some have suggested that Broken-coated terriers were exported out of Australia to England where they were bred to the softer coated Dandy Dinmont Terrier. Some were sent back to Australia where they were then bred to the Yorkshire Terrier to give an even softer, longer and smoother coat. A second theory suggests that the Silky was a result of cross breeding the Yorkshire Terrier with the rough coated Australian Terrier to improve the blue and tan coloring. Either way the result is a small sturdy dog with a lively temperament and and a beautiful coat. Seaborn Silkys is located on beautiful Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Our Silky Terriers are bred to the American Kennel Club standard with emphasis on structure, temperament and overall sound health. We work in collaboration with Blackrange Kennels and Shalee Silkys to produce dogs that are a fine representation of the breed. We
