I came to discover this wonderful breed while searching for a family pet. My daughter has allergies so I began by trying to identify some of the smaller "hypo-allergenic" breeds.  During this time we saw a Silky Terrier at a local shop.  My daughter and I were immediately taken by the lovely coat and the Terrier look. As we began researching the breed we discovered they have a single non-shedding coat. After some testing to be sure that she could tolerate the breed, we purchased our first pet  Silky.  

Wanting to be a responsible pet owner and learn all I could about the breed,  I joined an online forum called Silkydog-L.  The members of this forum are from around the globe and include those that show their dogs in AKC events, top breeders, professional handlers,  judges and pet owners.  It was here that I met breeder Irma Marshall of Alcamar Kennels from whom I purchased a lovely Silky bitch, Alcamar Blackrange Delilah.  I began showing Dee in the spring of 2005.  I put her first point on her and then sent her to professional handler, Angela Smith-Humpert of Blackrange Kennels.  Angela finished Dee to her AKC Championship in just four shows.  

It was through my friendship with Irma that I was fortunate to meet Angela and her partner Shauna Jones of Shalee Silkys.  These three woman are all excellent breeders in their own right.  As mentors, their vast knowledge is an invaluable resource as I begin my own breeding program.    

Seaborn Silkys are bred and raised on beautiful Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  I have lived here for over thiry years and look forward to running on the beach with these wonderful little dogs for many years to come.
